It’s January – Half The World Is On A Diet!

It’s January – Half The World Is On A Diet!

It would seem logical that you would consume diet products if you were trying to lose weight, but is it that simple? If you consume something which contains a sweetener, like Aspartame for example, it can have the exact opposite effect.

Why? Artificial sweeteners make you crave carbohydrates, and the indirect effect is often a weight gain! They also mess with your metabolism. A lot of diet drinks also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Researchers have demonstrated that once free of 'diet products' and with no significant increase in exercise, patients normally lose weight. Aspartame is also linked to a plethora of health conditions, including neurological and mental health conditions.

What can we do about it?

Metabolism: If you are a parent then be mindful of the fact that the blueprint of your child’s metabolism will be set before the age of 3

Digestion: If you are serious about losing weight, improving the function of the gut will significantly improve your health and accelerate your weight loss. Processed foods, excessive meat-eating, sugar, bad fats and medications (especially antibiotics) all affect the function of the gut. These 2 products will help clear the gut of unwanted matter, improve your digestion and provide the perfect start to a weight-loss programme: Probiotic E505 / Caprylic Acid

Changing Your Eating Habits: Preparing and eating tasty food is one of life’s great joys, so becoming miserable by following strict diets doesn’t work because you will eventually fall off the rails. Alternating between dieting and unhealthy eating is equally pointless.

Find A Balance: Eating plenty of healthy food, avoiding unhealthy food/drink and taking plenty of exercise should form the basis of a lifestyle change. Some helpful suggestions are:

-  Eat as much raw, ripe foods as comfortable every day. Try to eat 20% of your total daily intake as raw foods and try to be vegetarian at least 2 days a week

-  Prepare a fruit and vegetable juice once per day

-  All green leafy vegetables boost the immune system particularly broccoli, cabbage (green), watercress and Brussels sprouts

-  Eat fresh fruits such as apples, cherries, apricots, pineapple (eat the core, it contains enzymes that support the heart), ripe bananas, grapes, figs, raspberries and cranberries

-  Consume at least one and a half to two litres of water each day

-  Eliminate all refined and processed foods, sucrose and white bread products

-  Chew all foods thoroughly until the food is almost liquid

-  Experiment cooking with healthy foods, you will be surprised how tasty they can be!
