Prepare for and beat the effects of a Christmas ‘overload’!

Prepare for and beat the effects of a Christmas ‘overload’!

We’re well into the festive party season and so you may already be feeling the effects of too much food and drink. If not, it’s only a matter of time!

Let’s face it, most of us will probably eat and drink too much over the coming weeks. So here are some great tips to mitigate the ill-effects of a Christmas ‘overload’ and to help you feel great as we approach 2024.

Too much food

During the festive break, we tend to consume an excess of rich, acidic food. Here are some really helpful steps to aid the digestive tract and to feel less affected by the overload of food:

Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Start your day with half a freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm (not hot) water before you consume anything else.

  • Lemon juice alleviates constipation
  • It is very alkaline-forming and counteracts ‘acid stomach’
  • Lemons boost the immune system
  • Lemon juice (drunk early morning) improves the function of liver metabolism
  • Lemons support the respiratory system and research demonstrates that lemon juice alleviates some of the symptoms of the common cold

Probiotic and Caprylic Acid

Probiotic E505 is an excellent probiotic/prebiotic, proven to be active in the gut. It improves our digestion, soothes the stomach, reduces inflammation and strengthens the immune system – all important after the Christmas period!

Caprylic Acid is a healthy fat and multi-herbal product that helps to eliminate candida from the gut and cleanse the digestive track. Candida is very prevalent today, due to excessive sugar consumption. It’s damaging to our digestion and to our health in general too. This formula provides a mix of anti-microbial and anti-fungal agents designed to help promote digestive health. It improves intestinal micro-flora and also comprises garlic powder, oregano, grapefruit seed extract and green tea extract. All of these promote colon health by gently cleansing the gut and giving us a ‘lighter’ feeling.

Too much drink

Magnesium
A bottle of wine will excrete 60% of the Magnesium stored in your liver! This essential mineral is responsible for over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body and is depleted by alcohol, medications, refined sugar, saturated fats and many other food and lifestyle factors. Foodstate Magnesium helps alleviate the symptoms of hangovers, reduce the cravings for tobacco and improves energy levels too.

Milk Thistle
The Human Liver is a remarkable organ that deserves a bit of help! Unfortunately, the liver is the body’s dumping ground for toxins, despite its extraordinary regenerative qualities. Milk Thistle can help the proper regulation of cholesterol. It possesses antioxidant properties and has a protective effect on the liver as well.
