Back To School After A long Break? They Might Need A Bit Of Help!

Back To School After A long Break? They Might Need A Bit Of Help!

Let’s help them to settle in, get back to a proper learning routine and get the brain firing on all cylinders again!

Our children have had a much longer break from their school environment and it’s hardly surprising that they are going to feel a bit “rusty” heading back this autumn. The discipline might have wained and the routine been disrupted with the distractions of studying at home. Add to that weeks of sun, sea, staycations and countless hours on the play-station and we can safely assume that it may take a few weeks for them to start functioning properly again

Brain Function

  • Omega 3 Fish Oil: Often referred to as “brain food”, omega 3 fish oils improve levels of concentration. The brain is largely composed of lipids (fats), DHA is essential for the healthy development of brain and eye tissue in children. Shortage of both DHA and EPA, the 2 fats in omega 3 fish oil, has been linked to developmental and behavioural disorders in children, and supplementation of both has shown spectacular improvement

Tiredness and Fatigue

  • Iron: Foodstate Iron helps us avoid tiredness and fatigue. If you suspect you are iron deficient, you can follow this simple test: Place one of your hands flat on a table (palm down) and press firmly down on one fingernail to force all the blood out of the underlying nail-bed.  When you remove pressure, watch to see if rosy pink colour returns immediately.  If there is no colour change, this may indicate an Iron deficiency. Otherwise a blood test at the Doctor’s will confirm levels. Be careful not to take the iron Doctors prescribe, it is an awful material called ferrous sulphate or ferrous fumarate, it is inorganic, difficult to absorb and causes intestinal discomfort and constipation

Energy Levels

  • Magnesium: Foodstate Magnesium is essential for proper levels of physical/emotional energy and low levels can result in tiredness, fatigue, loss of stamina and insomnia. It’s essential for proper nerve function and deficiency is linked to mood swings, anxiety, stress and poor concentration. It can help reduce depression and memory loss and increases our learning ability. It also stops muscle cramps and encourages better sleep. 80% of Brits are thought to be Magnesium deficient
  • Vitamin B complex: B vitamins can be described as a great “pick-me-up” and helps us avoid tiredness and fatigue. People who are always tired by mid-afternoon are often Vitamin B deficient. B Vitamins work well together so we recommend taking the foodstate Vitamin B complex which also contains Vitamin C to help with Vitamin B absorption and boost the immune system

And something to avoid

Refined sugar! It is particularly damaging to our health, so this message goes out to children and adults. Here’s why we should avoid or at least limit sugar consumption:

  • In tests, rats that had sugar removed from their diets lived twice as long
  • It increases the risk of heart disease
  • It suppresses the immunity and increases the risk of breast and colon cancer
  • It disrupts the digestion and is a likely contributor to Crohn’s and Ulcerative colitis
  • It is likely to increase ADHT, autism, depression, drowsiness and affects spatial awareness
  • It causes a temporary rise in blood sugar and can lead to Diabetes
  • It increases undesirable LDL cholesterol
  • It causes obesity and increases the accumulation of visceral fat
  • It causes the excretion of many vitamins and minerals
  • It causes tooth decay and accelerates wrinkly skin

Regulating Blood Sugar: However, if you or your children have a sweet tooth and want to do something to help balance your body’s blood sugar, then the mineral GTF Chromium helps to do that. GTF stands for Glucose Tolerance Factor.

GTF Chromium Product Benefits:

  • GTF Chromium helps to maintain normal blood glucose levels
  • It contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism
  • Chromium helps to metabolise carbohydrates, fats and protein as it enhances the action of insulin, the body’s fat storage hormone
  • It has added Foodstate Antioxidants to support the immune system

Why Foodstate Chromium?

As with all Foodstate nutrients, ours is better absorbed and longer retained than isolated nutrients normally found in supplements. Our Chromium is made from a species of broccoli that has been hydroponically grown in a chromium rich environment. As such it is a wholefood form of the mineral with high bio-availability
